Board Members
A BRIEF NOTE ON OUR ORGANIZATION
Corpus Christi is an organization that has bylaws, which stipulate how the board is to operate. The board is comprised of a chairman, treasurer, secretary, and various individuals from countries across Europe. Corpus Christi was first established as an organization in Sweden, but since then has grown and changed to include members form all over Europe. We are now looking to establish our organization in a way that reflects our international nature. Any pressing questions or needs can be addressed to the chairman of the board, Samuli Siikavirta. Samuli Siikavirta hails from the region of Savo, Eastern Finland. Apart from one year at the University of Helsinki, he was trained at the University of Cambridge, UK, where he lived and studied for eight years leading up to a PhD in New Testament Exegetics (in 2014). Samuli first attended the Corpus Christi Conference in 2011, greatly enjoying the combination of liturgical worship, solid confessional Lutheran teaching and free time. He joined the Board in 2015 and became the Chairman of the organisation in 2016. He currently serves as Head Pastor of St Mark’s Lutheran Church, Helsinki, a congregation in the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Diocese of Finland.
Michael Wenz ist from Germany and having studied in Oberursel, Tübingen (both Germany) and St. Louis (USA) he graduated from the Lutheran Seminary in Oberursel (LThH) in 2018. At the moment he is working on a PhD in early church history. He has been a member of the Board of Corpus Christi since 2015. In his free time he likes to play the organ, play soccer, and cycle through Europe. Since he first attended Corpus Christi in Kristinestad in 2011, he is enthusiastic about the gatherings as they root young adults from across Europe more deeply in faith in Jesus Christ and show how we are connected as the one body of Christ in a visible and audible way.
Hanna Simojoki is the youngest member of the Board, having joined in 2020. She lives in the south of England, where she attends Our Saviour Lutheran Church, but has roots in both England and Finland. Since attending her first Corpus Christi conference in 2019, she has been greatly inspired and uplifted by the strong community of Lutherans she found there, and is eager to help continue the work of Corpus Christi. Hanna holds a place at Cambridge University, where she will begin studying English next year, and in her free time loves to sing in choirs, and make music both in church and in ensembles.
Jordan was born in Canada, grew up in the USA, and lived for a period of time in Germany. He has family scattered across Europe, which is his home away from home. Jordan first went to Corpus Christi in 2014 and loved the ability to connect with people of the same faith, but who had completely different backgrounds. He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Atlanta. Jordan currently works for Delta Airlines and is working on some cool projects like wood furniture, a liturgical watch, and electric powered speed skates.
